Four to Ten people have been trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in the southern French city of Marseille. According to the mayor of the city an explosion occurred around 12:30 am local time. Eight people have already been rescued. People are concerned about the fact that firefighting water could endanger any survivors.

The building collapsed in the rue Tivoli, with similar incidents happening before in Marseille, for example in 2018. Around 100,000 euros have been sent to help the rescue.

French President Emanuel Made in said this: "Thoughts are with Marseille, where a building on rue Tivoli collapsed last night. I am thinking of those affected and their loved ones. An investigation is continuing with significant resources deployed. Thank you to the fire fighters and rescuers mobilized."
