Carlos Alcaraz has won the US Open. The 19-year old won against Norwegian Casper Ruud in 4 sets. The match ended after 3 hours, Alcaraz defeated Ruud with 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3. It is his first Grand Slam, making him the youngest No.1 in tennis history, and the youngest Grand Slam winner.

"This is something I've dreamt of since I was a kid. To be No. 1 in the world, to be a champion. It's the final of a grand slam, fighting for the No. 1 in the world -- something that I have dreamed of since I was a kid. I always say it's not time to be tired in the final round of the grand slam, you have to give everything you have inside," Alcaraz said.

Casper Ruud said he would continue chasing the No.1 spot. "Today was a special day, both Carlos and I knew what we were playing for and both knew what was a stake. I'm disappointed of course that I'm not No. 1, but No. 2 isn't so bad either," Ruud added.

Along the way to the final, Alcaraz played the second-longest match in the history of the US Open against Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals. The match finished at 2:50 am.

Throughout the whole match Alcaraz showed his speed, fighting for every ball. He was dominiant the whole time. This win could mean more Grand Slam titles, as he is only 19 years old and has even won against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
