It was a long and nail-biting match, but in the end England won 2:1 against Germany. In the first half of the game England clearly dominated the field, delivering some good shots from Ellen White and Lucy Bronze. Germany had lost one of their best players, Alexandra Popp. Before the game Popp tried to shoot in training - and said she could not play. The Germans then lost their top scorer and the captain of the team. At the start of the second half Germany played better, the English goalkeeper had to defend a lot. Tabea Waßmuth, a German player, and the English Ella Toone intensified the game. Waßmuth took a shot at the goal, but the shot was too soft. Ella Toone scored a goal then in the 62nd minute, chipping the ball excellently intk the back of the net. But Germany would not let go, and Lena Magull then equalized with a great goal. The game continued, and England won. In the 110th minute Chloe Kelly scored the final goal in front of 87.192 people, after a corner kick from Lauren Hemp. The German team of trainer Martina Voss-Tecklenburg was devastated. After the game they sank to the floor and cried. Today the English team will be welcomed in London at Trafalgar Square, and the German team will be welcomed in Frankfurt. Both teams will celebrate.
