French 🇫🇷 President Emmanuel Macron says his French ambassadors to Niger 🇳🇪 are "literally being held hostage" at the French embassy in Niger.

To journalists, he said his ambassadors were being prevented from receiving food as food delivery was blocked 🚫 to the embassy in Niamey and that the ambassadors were forced to eat military 🪖 rations.

The ambassador Sylvain Itte was ordered to leave the country, his visa was revoked, and the instructed police 🚔 expelled him after the military🪖 junta took over Niger in July 2023.
