Netanyahu forms emergency government and war cabinet

Israel's Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposition figure Benny Gantz have come to the conclusion to form a "war cabinet". Alongside them the National Unity Party leader, a former defence minister, and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant will be included.

This is all due to the surprise attack of the group Hamas on Saturday, bombarding the Gaza stripe, killing more than 1,200 people and taking 150 people hostage, including children and elderly.

Israel has thousands of troops ready near the Gaza border for a potential land invasion. To add to that the Israeli government made clear that they also have to defend against the Hezbollah militia from Lebanon and Syria.
