German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has just created his first Tik-Tok account -Â right after big discussions about the social media platform stealing data and a potential US-ban.
Scholz posted đ« his first Tik-Tok video đč today, where a member of his team walks đ¶ââïž around the Chancellor's office, films her sneakers đ and eventually pans the camera đ· to Olaf Scholz, who smiles đ at his desk. Due to the security concerns đ the German government hadn't used TikTok yet, that's why all posts are made on a special, independent cell phone to ensure the data security of the German government. On X Scholz posted: "I won't danceđș. I promise."
This move is being made because Scholz wants to connect with younger audiences, and as the platform is popular in Germany đ©đȘ this is a smart move, although the Chancellor is maybe too late with this move as the hype around the platform isn't as big as before. Other politicians like French President Emanuel Macron or US President Joe Biden have also just joined TikTok as well as German Health Minister Kark Lauterbach.
