Rodri wins the Ballon D'or, Real boycotts the event

The Ballon D'or is the most prestigious and valuable individual award for a football player. The prize is awarded to the best football player of a season and is given out every year in Paris. Of course, the award could not be missed this year and, to everyone's surprise, the winner is Rodri, the Manchester City midfielder.

The result is not what many had expected. Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior was actually considered the top candidate for the trophy, having won the Champions League, the Spanish championship and the Spanish Super Cup with Real Madrid. Rodri, on the other hand, won the English championship, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the European Championship. A few hours before the gala at the Theatre du Chatelet, the decision leaked out that Rodri would win ahead of Vinicius. Madrid had originally planned to travel with 50 men, but they cancelled their flight and boycotted the event. The organizers of the Ballon D'or reacted and said that no one knew who would win.
