Heavy Bomb Explosions Rock Southern Thailand

In at least 17 locations in southern Thailand, bombs exploded and fires went off on Wednesday. Seven people were injured by the attacks. According to the authorities the attacks happened after midnight, hitting stores and gas stations in three provinces.

The Thailand - Malaysia border has long faced difficulties, in which the government of Thailand battled groups that seek independence for the provinces of Pattani, Yala, parts of Songkhla and Narathiwat. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks. In the conflict that started 2003 more than 7,300 people have been killed. Peace talks began 2013, stopped in the years of the Covid Pandemic, and restarted this year.
