The former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan will be disqualified from holding political office for five years, the Election Commission of Pakistan ruled. The ECP said the reason for Khan's disqualification was his involvement in "corrupt practices", and "false statements". This decision is a big setback for Khan. In April, he was removed from office in a vote of no confidence. But Khan remains popular. His ideas are widespread under the younger generation of Pakistan. Khan claimed that his removal from office was an American conspiracy, and that the military were behind his ousting. Repeatedly, he calls out new parliamentary elections and earlier votes.
