North Korea rejected South Korea's offer of economic support for the North Korean people, in exchange for denuclearization. The sister of North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jong, criticized the offer of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, calling him "really simple". Yoon first proposed the offer in May at his inauguration speech, calling the idea an "audacious plan". South Korea would have implemented a large scale food plan, provided help for power generation, enhanced agriculture and modernized North Korea's trade routes and hospitals.
"To think that the plan to barter 'economic cooperation' for our honor, nukes, is the great dream, hope and plan of Yoon, we came to realize that he is really simple and still childish."
South Korea responded to the North Korean statement with:"We make it clear that we will not sit face to face with him." South Korea's Unification Ministry responded on Friday, expressing "strong regret".
North Korea has already had it's 18th missile launch test this year. In 2020 it had only 4 tests and in 2021 8. Tensions between North Korea and South Korea have been rising this year.
