The Swedish National Seismic Network (SNSN) has detected two explosions near the area of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, probably leaking the pipeline. Both explosions where recorded on Monday, the first at 2:03 a.m. local time and the second at 7:04 PM. SNSN stated that the biggest of the two underwater explosions resulted in a tremor of 2.3 magnitude. The is not usually used for military exercises. Similar tremors were registered by the seismic station on the Danish island Bornholm.
Three leaks in Nord Stream 2 have been identified, but there is no probs that the explosions caused the leaks. Vessels should keep a 8 kilometer distance from the leaks. The Danish Defence Command said: “following the three gas leaks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, prohibition zones have been established around the leaks for the sake of the safety of ship and air traffic.”“following the three gas leaks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, prohibition zones have been established around the leaks for the sake of the safety of ship and air traffic.”
