A truck has spilled 300,000 tomatoes on the 80 Interstate Highway in California, causing seven cars to crash and stopping traffic. The California Highway Patrol added that three people have minor injuries and one is in the hospital due to a broken leg. During the tomato season farmers use the highway to transport their tomatoes across the state. A small collision caused the truck to swerve and release the vegetables, spilling them around the 200 ft motorway. This caused the tomato sauce to be around two feet deep, and as the cars drove in it, it added dirt and oil to the red sauce. Hours later the road reopened again.

California produces more than 90% of the US processed tomatoes and half of the global processed tomatoes.
