American gamer and big streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins has been diagnosed with cancer đŸ˜±đŸ˜ą. The Twitch streamer tweeted that he went to a routine skin check, and his dermatologist discovered melanoma after removing a mole from his foot.

"It came back as melanoma, but they are optimistic that we caught it in the early stages. I had another dark spot appear near it, so today they biopsied that and removed a larger area around the melanoma with the hopes that under the microscope they will see clear non-melanoma edges and we will know we got it."

The 3ïžâƒŁ2ïžâƒŁ-year old amasses 19 million followers on Twitch and has been a prominent streamer for years. His peak was when he became a Fortnite pro. Melanoma is a rare type of skin cancer. Although skin cancer isn't rare at all, 1 out of 5 Americans develop skin cancer in their life. But melanoma leads to more deaths, as it spreads to more parts of the body than just the skin.

Risk factors for melanoma include being light-skinned, having a lot of moles, being exposed to UV-light, and having a family history of melanoma or a history of personal skin cancer. To prevent getting melanoma, you should use sun-protection, avoid tanning beds 🛌 and sunlight mid-day.   "Whether you're exposed to the sun's UV rays or visit an indoor tanning salon, every time you tan, your skin is damaged," the American Academy of Dermatology says on its website. "As this damage builds, you speed up the aging of your skin and increase your risk for all types of skin cancer, including melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer."
