According to a statement from the US Central Command, the US carried out a strike against the leader of Hurras al-Din, an al-Qaeda affiliated organization in Monday. The strike was carried out by a drone. The US said they are "highly confident" the drone killed Abu Hamzah al Yemeni. Al Yemeni travelled on a motorcycle in Syria, in the northwest province called Idlib. Two weeks ago the US had already arrested a senior ISIS leader. The US said Idlib is the largest al-Qaeda haven since bin Laden. The Central Command said terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda still present a threat to the US and it's citizens. They added: "The removal of this senior leader will disrupt al Qaeda's ability to carry out attacks against U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians around the world".
