After the Hamas returned remains of someone who did not belong to the remaining 13 hostages Netanyahu's office stated that the group were in "clear violation" of the ceasefire agreement.

"At the conclusion of the security consultations, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the military echelon to carry out immediate, powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip," the office of the Prime Minister said in a short statement.

Another cause for the reaction of Israel is a supposed attack of Hamas troops in Rafah on IDF soldiers. A sniper and a bazooka were supposedly part of the attack.

Hamas have denied having any connection to the attacks in Rafah.

At least two people have been killed and another four injured in one of the strikes, says Gaza's civil defense agency.
