Two national guards shot near White House

2 National Guard members have been injured following a shooting in downtown DC. Read all here with "The Zeitgeist."


On Wednesday afternoon, 2 West Virginia National Guard members engaged in a shooting with a suspect. After they were critically wounded and transported to the hospital, they find themselves in critical condition. The DC police have confirmed that a suspect is in custody and that the shooting took place at 17th and I Street in Northwest DC. The streets around Fargo West Station, near the White House, have been closed off.


Earlier in the day, West Virginia’s governor Patrick Morrisey showed some confusion by saying both soldiers had been killed, but later posted an update clarifying that more information was needed. In a video posted on social media later in the evening, Morrisey said he had recently spoken with Trump and that they were “going to keep working to make sure justice is served.”


JD Vance addresses DC shooting at army base in Kentucky


In his remarks at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, vice-president JD Vance addressed the shooting of two national members of the West Virginia national guard.


"We're still learning everything. We still don't know the motive. There's a lot that we haven't vet figured out, but what we do know is that a couple of national guardsmen were injured in the line of duty," Vance said. "I think it's a somber reminder that soldiers, whether thev're active duty reserve or national guard, our soldiers are the sword and the shield of the United States
